Now offering: ADOS-2 Autism Testing
Now offering: ADOS-2 Autism Testing
Point Wellness Co. offers specialized ADOS-2 diagnostic testing conducted by licensed Pediatric Speech & Language Pathologist Jackie Anderson for children and adolescents suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder.
What Is the ADOS-2?
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2) is an activity-based assessment administered by trained clinicians to evaluate communication skills, social interaction, and imaginative use of materials in individuals who are suspected to have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The ADOS-2 provides an opportunity to observe symptoms and behaviors associated with ASD in a consistent manner across different clients, clinicians, and locations. The ADOS-2 is currently considered the “GOLD STANDARD” in the assessment of ASD.
Who is ADOS-2 for?
The ADOS-2 is highly effective for almost anyone suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is designed for individuals as young as 12-months of age all the way through adulthood. The ADOS-2 can accommodate people across the lifespan because it comprises several modules. Clinicians select the appropriate module for an individual based upon the person’s language ability (ranging from no speech to verbally fluent) and age. Insurance carriers require an autism diagnosis before they authorize treatment or pay claims, therefore early evaluation and formal testing is crucial.
Our collaborative approach
Point Wellness Co. offers the ADOS-2 assessment in conjunction with a comprehensive speech and language evaluation to provide the most accurate diagnosis. After this testing, families will be scheduled for an appointment with our Medical Director to discuss the evaluation and answer any questions. A detailed report with tailored recommendations for therapy and support will be provided. Point Wellness can then provide any family or individual counseling, play therapy, nutritional support or medication management. Our family-centered approach ensures that caregivers are involved throughout the process, providing guidance and resources to help navigate every step.
